Didier created a wonderful 3 course menu with amuse-bouche for our family group of 13 in August 23 at Les Maz.
Didier ensured the meal was bespoke to our group’s dietary requirements and that every detail had been carefully considered. The food was what you would expect from a Michelin star chef - insanely delicious!! …..and Didier and Jelle hosted the evening with impeccable service and style. Didier ensured we were given an understanding of the provenance of the ingredients as well as details about the local delicacies. The kitchen was also left spotless meaning no-one had to lift a finger.
Thank you Didier and Jelle for an unforgettable evening, we hope to return again another year.
Didier visited Le Mas during our stay at the end of July ‘23 and prepared and served a truly delightful dinner.
It was so special to eat such exquisite food ‘at home’, yet feel as though you are in a fine dining restaurant (with the best view in the Dordogne!).
Didier ran through our wines with us and took care to match them suitably with the menu, he also explained each course and chatted happily with us all. The evening was very relaxed yet had all the hallmarks of an extremely special restaurant experience.
When they had left we remained at the table long into the night, full of conviviality, wishing the night not to end. Inside the kitchen was spotless, as if they had never been there and it was all a dream.
Couldn’t recommend Didier more highly, we have already made plans for next year!
Didier was kind enough to cook for us at Le Mas in July 2023.
His culinary expertise is second to none and the food was an outstanding combination of technique and flavour.
But what made the meal so special was Didier’s kindness and charm - a really fabulous combination.

Didier prepared two fabulous meals for my family and friends while we stayed at Le Mas & Le Mazet. Didier was extremely flexible with the menu options and provided plenty of information and explanation. On both occasions the food was excellent, the atmosphere convivial and the service perfect. What a perfect evening! We managed to book Didier last minute for a three course meal for our family of 8 and everything was utterly wonderful. Didier is an absolute joy and hosted us as if we were sat at the chef’s table in a restaurant. He made sure the table was set perfectly, as well as producing the most delicious food (half vegetarians, half meat eaters and one dairy intolerance!). Every course was a taste sensation and Didier’s personality and passion for cooking made the evening a roaring success. We had a great time and will be booking with him again when we next visit the Dordogne.

Didier prepared a delicious 3 course dinner for a group of 10 recently at our home in the Dordogne. He was a delight to work with and the evening could not have been nicer. Didier consulted with me before the dinner to make sure tastes were determined and that things went smoothly. He set the table beautifully, with candles and flowers as well. Each course was plated and served professionally. At the end of the evening, Didier left the kitchen immaculate. It was a very special evening and we'll do it again! We had a group of both English and French speakers, and Didier made it possible for all to communicate with the chef comfortably. Merci, Didier!

Passionné par la pâtisserie et la cuisine françaises, je me suis inscrit à un atelier de viennoiserie avec Didier. Quel bonheur! L'art de la fabrication de bons croissants est compliqué, c'est pas du gâteau, mais Didier est là pour tout expliquer et pour rendre la tâche plus facile et plus agréable. Il avait apporté tout ce qu'il faut pour deux pâtes: une pâte de démonstration par le maître lui-même, et une pour l'apprenti sorcier, eeeh pardon apprenti pâtissier. Il m' a appris comment choisir les bons ingrédients, et puisque la fabrication de croissants demande une certaine dextérité, il a consacré beaucoup de temps à m'enseigner les gestes tecnhiques, notamment pour l'incorporation du beurre, le découpage et le roulage de la pâte. Le roulage est important, car la réussite d'un croissants n'est pas seulement une affaire de goût, mais il y a aussi le côté visuel. Didier est un chef et un professeur sympathique et patient! Je le recommande vivement à tous les cuisiniers et pâtissiers amateurs.
Al vele malen heb ik mogen genieten van de kookkunsten van Didier Besnard. Hij maakt fantastische gerechten, van traditioneel Frans en Perigord tot Aziatisch. Daarnaast is Didier een heel prettige gastheer. Hij vertelt graag over zijn gerechten, de bereidingswijze en de gebruikte producten.
Vooral zijn sauzen, soepen, patisserie, maar ook wijn-spijs-combinaties hebben hem in Nederland beroemd gemaakt.
Ik kan iedereen aanraden om in de Dordogne of Lot via private-dining of een workshop kennis te komen maken met de kookkunsten van Didier!
Waanzinnig lekker eten. Een ware smaakexplosie en het ziet er fantastisch uit. Complimenten voor Didier, maar ook voor de service die hij geeft, vriendelijk en attent
